Painting the Wall

Show me the place I said to Him

Then I shall go with brush in hand

Choose the color and it is done

For on Your Word will I stand

Think I should know if you tell

For surely it would be the right

There is no time that would be wrong

Whether light of day or dark of night

Not a plan that man could draw

But yet a sure promise from you

And this paint will do the job

As only Your Word can do

With brush in hand I stoke at your command

Across the wall that man has made

With this crimson red as you say

The way that you have laid

Yes in the wall a door to paint

In the Precious Blood of the Lamb

Was from the beginning to be His Will

Salvation to give by the Great I Am

Paper Wings

If I could make you once my own
To be a creation of mine
I’d carefully draw with the pencil of love
Each and every line

Would be so much for all to behold
And stand with breathless array
While I stood proud for what I had done
In making you that way

Yes, an angel my very own
To stay right here by me stand
Whither I go, you would go
Walking through life hand in hand

And so in my wisdom to make
The finishing touches on that day
On your sides I’d put paper wings
So from me you can’t fly away

Passing This Way

Tarry not to come this way
My soul for you does need
And stand beside me now I pray
While upon Your Word I feed

Promises of love divine
Beyond what man does know
In all that is said and done
Your Love Your Word will show

Come now quickly I say
To you my heart’s desire
The one and only thing I need
That sets my soul on fire

Down the road of life I go
And this one thing I must
No matter what I face in life
On your blessed word to trust

Yes I’ll speak my heart to you
For each and everyday
I welcome you with open arms
Each time you pass this way

Pitcher of Water

Bring me that pitcher of water
Look inside to see its face
Is this one you should know
And what brought it to this place

I’ll look closely in wet eyes
And see what did cause these tears
Was words heard hard upon
Was driven by doubt or fear

Not as clear as I would like
For seems much more to see
What lies within this face’s heart
The face that belongs to me

I am, I am, I know I am
All He promised my soul
For from within to change about
To make me free and whole

His Life, His Soul, His Precious Blood
Was given on an Old Rugged Tree
And by the Spirit of God to rise
That I by faith can live eternally

Picture You Love

How would you paint your life
The brush is given to you
The world is your canvas board
With your heart what will you do

Is a choice to make ourselves
In hope of painting it true
That would make one want to buy
Your life is what you do

Each day is a different stroke
To this picture of life to add
Can you look upon and feel
To make one’s soul glad

Not just an unplanned flight
His Spirit can guide your hand
And paint this picture of your life
If on His Word you stand

So what you leave behind in life
To reach that home above
Can you say the truth be known
They all would picture you love

Place I Found in Him

Have I not seen the path of a traveler
Winding through hearts of clay
Was a road of broken dreams
And that of lives changed
Have I not looked into the eyes of a fool
And saw deep places of sorrow
Slipping silently into the hearts of man
Yet the reflection of life came near
Have I not seen one grown wise
Much earlier than his days would say
And not deserved or earned
But was established by a Man of Love
Have I not seen the end of my days
Though in truth they never end
For this walk I have walked here
Leads me to the place I found in Him

Place of Peace

Hesitate not, but take me in the morning
To the place my soul desires to be
Where I shall know Him in His Love
And that the things He knows in me

Then shall my heart be rid of wrong
And know the joy forgiveness will bring
And the sorrow that took hold of my soul
Will be changed to Love’s Song I shall sing

Early I will find this place not to wait
Searching for the thing those gone before
Found in the valley of tears they shed
Striving hard to find Life’s Door

Shed these garments placed on me
By a life of shame and sin
His Blood to wash my soul clean
And His Peace to put within

Placed in My Heart

I’ll look again and try to see
I know I left it there
I placed it carefully in my heart
To forget I shall not dare

For this Word came to me
When in my time of need
His Promise came placed within
To be fulfilled indeed

Once again this Precious Word
Would bring me softly out
From this burden upon my soul
My victory comes with a shout

Oh His Word placed in my heart
By His Spirit within to grow
Always bearing wonderful seed
Its worth I’ll always know

Never leaving though darkness try
To cover the Light within
For the Word of His Holy Blood
Has cleansed me from my sin

Plain and Simple Man

I saw a plain and simple man
As he walked slowly by
I wondered if in all his life
He said one day I'll die

Had he taken to time to think
Of what would lie ahead
Of what things he had to face
Down to the things he'd said

I venture now to think myself
A simple one as I
Should take the time to know my Lord
Before the day I die

I can say is true for all
That He came to save
To remove from each of us
The uncertainty of the grave

The searching heart in each of us
To find what went away
When sin entered into man's life
On Adam's dark and shameful day

And our Father in all His Love
Said I can still forgive
He sent His Son to shed His Blood
So we once again can live

Poetry's Finest Hour

Write ole pen for life to hope
And bring me what I need
The words that join hand in hand
To reach my heart indeed

Comes from a place I cannot see
But yet I know is real
Blown to my mind by winds
From God's own mouth I feel

Deeper, deeper, no place that hides
From these words that cover me
I can't contain these lines I read
How lovely a poem can be

Flowing down a wooden cross
Each word is crimson read
Written before the start of time
As true as the Father said

And in this poem now written
For words there was no loss
'Twas poetry's finest hour
Love's story written on a cross

Praise to Him

Praise to Him with voices raised
The Lamb worthy to be praised
In His Presence desire to be
Behold His Face eternally

Abba Father I look above
And look into your Eyes of Love
More of You this I pray
Yes to praise You everyday

My debt of sin paid for me
For my soul life eternally
Higher to that Place of Rest
For me You gave Your Very Best

Can’t describe by words of man
If need be done then He can
Praise alone to the Holy Lamb
Son of The Great I Am

This I choose to praise Him now
And before His Throne to bow
When the lights of life grow dim
All the praise belongs to Him

Praise Took Me There

The place I needed to go
Before His Throne to bow
In desperate cries to find
I must make it somehow

Finding a way to see
Before this burden to bear
And carry it to Him still
This place I do know where

But my mind away to move
To keep me out of this place
I must keep pressing on
Until I see His face

So thanking Him now I begin
Though in a time of despair
For to His Throne I did go
It was praise that took me there

Preparing the Room

They prepared the room without thought
Each chair set carefully in place
As an angel maybe to show
The things this room would embrace

Seemed simple enough yes to prepare
Maybe for this final feast
Only knowing for obedience to do
That this they did was the least

Then word came the time is now
Show the room you prepared
For the Master is coming today
To enter the room you have shared

Thirteen men around a table that day
As later would be understood
With hands upon that would betray
Thought evil to win over good

Yet He brake the bread to bless
For each one His Body to give
And with blessing the wine He took
His Blood given that we might live

Purpose of the Wine

The purpose of the wine was known
It was made very best
It had come forth above all
So much greater than the rest

In none could be found its flavor
Its taste beyond what we know
Filling and holding its drinkers
Within their lives it did flow

And lifting it higher and higher
A heart taken here to above
And changed to be as its Masters
Covered within, without by His Love

Yes this wine we know is His Spirit
And taking it in everyday
Is surely life’s truest meaning
And changing to Spirit from clay

Put a Handle on Things

How yet can I find these things
In life that pass me by
Are these things for others still
That I can’t grasp though I try

I’ve seen them so close at hand
As almost they were mine
But them in alluding ways
They slip away unkind

Was there a thing to put on life
To help me find it’s ways
To gather in the best of things
With peace to live my days

I know the voice that calls me near
To tell me of all things
To give direction that’s gone away
Into my heart life brings

For the Lord is such a one to show
When His Spirit in me rings
He showed me how in all my life
How to put a handle on things
